A batch of teachers have been at post for over a year and have been denied the salary due them.
A number of teachers across the country, identified to be batch number five to have received their STAFF ID’s and had their biometric process in the month of November last year till now have not been paid.
Ghana Education Service recruited a number of teachers to fill various vacancies in the sector to help in imparting knowledge into the young ones (learners) across the country. Fortunately, some applicants had appointment and got posted to various areas in the country. With smiles they welcomed the appointment into the service but their smiles and hard work after being posted and serving for over a year has not paid off.
Hearing from some friends who fall victim to this menace, they explained that, ‘It took quite a time for them to have their Staff ID’s, it was all smiles the ID’s came with hopes that salary would soon be in as some of their colleagues have already had theirs. Luckily, they were validated a month after biometric, December. Where hopes went high that they would be paid but their hopes were squashed when series of checks from their banks were made but there was no sign of a credit to their ‘SALARY ACCOUNTS.’
They thought of waiting since January this would soon come for another monthly payment to be made but sadly for these victims, they didn’t even have their names appearing on the Payment Voucher for them to be validated. That was a sign they might have been forgotten by their employer.
Till now, no official has cleared the air about why these hard working and patriotic citizens have not been paid.
Hence, they are by this medium pleading to the government to hear their cry. Also, they call on all stakeholders to come to their aid.
